The Bible in Romans 3:23 says “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We are a fallen people and are filled with sin describing us as blind and dead in our transgressions. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death so then if we die, because God is Holy and perfect in Justice, he has to punish sinners, for the imperfect cannot be in right standing with the perfect. Sin is a multitude of things such as blasphemy-saying Gods name in vain and blaspheming Gods name in our actions, lying, stealing, having idols before God, adultery- Jesus says if you look at a woman with lust you have committed adultery with her in your heart. It is clear now all have sinned against God if we examine our selves by these standards. The Bible tells us that our punishment will be Eternal damnation, eternal hell under the wrath of God because and for our sin. God is also perfect in love and because he is perfect in love as well as justice, God The Father sent his only son, Jesus Christ who lived a perfect and sinless life and died on the cross and three days later he rose from the dead defeated death, hell and the grave and is now seated at the right hand of God and if we would repent from our sins and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord then we may inherit eternal life as a gift from God. God can do this justly because Jesus Christ died as the propitiation for our sin satisfying the wrath of God for those who would believe in Christ Jesus.
